Illustrate Change
Fewer than 5% of images in medical textbooks show dark skin. This exclusion leads to conscious and unconscious biases in the healthcare system linked to misdiagnosis and mistreatment.
We believe creativity is the most powerful force in the universe, so we unleashed creativity to solve this. Working with the prominent Black artist and medical student Chidiebere Ibe, we developed a publicly available library of BIPOC medical illustrations. The library focuses on dermatology, women’s health, and conditions relevant to this community to positively change representation in medicine.
Partnering with Johnson & Johnson, we changed representation in medicine for good by creating the first public library of diverse medical illustrations for all.
Our design group was responsible for the brand look + feel for this whole initiative, including the design of the Cannes materials and gallery space.
